Fresno County Superintendent of Schools’ “STEM for Girls Conference” at Fresno Pacific University

CEI’s Careers in Energy program joined the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools’ “STEM for Girls Conference” at Fresno Pacific University where more than 300 young women in grades 6 to 12 were educated on the importance of STEM studies. The young women heard from keynote speaker, Deborah Berebichez — a physicist, data scientist and TV co-host of Discovery Channel’s Outrageous Acts of Science — and the first Mexican woman to graduate with a physics PhD from Stanford. She offered a very inspiring message for these girls – to persevere, believe in yourself and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities youth have today with technology.

Students attended breakout sessions focusing on how a STEM education can be applied to a career in the aviation, space exploration and oil and gas industry.
