The second annual Women’s Empowerment Summit, hosted by Fresno City Councilmember Esmeralda Soria and the California Latino Leadership Institute, gave its audience an incredible opportunity to hear from Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo, a panel of women employed in the oil and gas industry and a panel of women employed in the agriculture industry. The oil and gas industry was represented by Astrid Acuna of California Resources Corporation, Dulce Hernandez ofChevron and Amy Roth of E&B Natural Resources. Acevedo and the two different panels repeatedly pointed to the power of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and old-fashioned persistence in creating successful and fulfilling career paths.
